Williams Class Weekly 9th June 2023

Talofa Lava Bloggers,

We’ve been really busy and it’s been a long time since our last post (actually in term 1) so we thought we’d do a catch up post …

Orewa Surf Trip

Last term we went on a bus to Orewa which is about an hour away. We went to learn how to surf. It was difficult standing up. We fell over heaps of times. Some people managed to stand up for 10 seconds. Later we had free swimming time but they didn’t let us go very deep. The water was cold at first but we got used to it quickly.

Basketball

The year 5&6 students went on a basketball trip. We saw heaps of teams. We had a run around then we practised. Later we played some games. We tried hard and had fun. We learned a lot and when we were back at school we had a class challenge.

Art Trip

We went to the C0rban Estate Art place. Our teachers were Whaea Penny and Whaea Molly. They talked about Matariki and how it related to our art. They taught us how to work with pastel and how to draw New Zealand birds and plants. We used colour pastels in layers. We coloured the bird a basic colour then we added lighter and darker colours to part of the birds. At the end we used clay paint to make the night sky in the background. It was so much fun.

Dance

We learned to do a dance with Millie. She is a dance instructor. It was fun learning the dance moves and she told us to do our own style. At the end we had to share our dance with the class. We had to remember it all … and it was easy to remember. We hope we get to do it again.

Hope you enjoyed our post. Let us know what you have been doing in the comments … bye
